They’re perfectly groomed, ultra-cute, and all over your social media feed. Nope, we’re not talking about the latest celeb or Insta-influencer – it’s animals who are taking the world of social media by storm. A survey showed that 33% of people post pics of their pets as much as (or more often than) of their own family, with one in six pet owners creating an account specifically for their pet.

In fact, pets have also been shown to be highly effective marketing influencers, with reports showing a whopping 295% increase in brands that include animals in their posts. This gives a whole new meaning to the term “working dog”!

So, just what is it about these four-legged superstars that leave us panting for more? And can your little fluffball be the next big thing?

Why are social media pets so paw-pular?

This one seems self-explanatory: because they’re so flipping adorable! But the real reasons might actually go a bit deeper. While it’s been generally accepted that owning or regularly interacting with an animal can be beneficial to your mood and mental health, it seems that simply viewing images and videos of pets might be enough to give you a boost. Some studies indicate that just watching cute animals online can help improve your blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety.

So, if you’re feeling stressed, load up some animal videos immediately!

Can your pets perk up your posts?

Of course, every pet parent will tell you that their fur-kid is the cutest of all time. And you know what? Every single one of them is right! So, with this in mind, should you start an account for your furry friend? And can they even help you make some cash on the side?

If you just want to share your fur-family with your friends on Insta, chances are that everyone will love it, and you’ll get way more likes and engagements. But, if you’re looking to bump your Boerboel up to influencer, you should know that not every pet is suited to the demanding life of professional cuteness. If your pet is anxious and easily stressed, they might not be a fan of constant shoots and posing. Plus, the market for pet influencers is very saturated – rather let your sleeping dog lie and snap a cute pic for your pals.
