As you drive your car each day, you might be asking yourself, “What’s the best day of the week to do so?” After all, it’s not unreasonable to want to enjoy the road as much as possible and not have to worry about safety.

While there are no clear answers to this question, you can use a few data analyses to help determine which days are best to be behind the wheel.

It’s official – Wednesday is the safest day of the week to be on the road according to the State of Road Safety Report.

This State of Road Safety review spans the 12-month period from 1 January to 31 December 2021. The 2020 figures could skew the analysis due to the National wide COVID-19 lockdown that took effect on 27 March 2020 and imposed restrictions on travelling and drinking alcohol.

When comparing fatal crashes between 2019 and 2021, there was a 2,2% rise (from 10 381 in 2019 to 10 611 in 2021). When comparing 2020 and 2021, the increase was 26,2% (from 8 405 in 2020 to 10 611 in 2021).
