Should I treat my dog to a strawberry or 3?
February 28, 2019
Strawberries are great for dogs! But like any other tasty snack, moderation is key. “Treats you feed your dog should make up no more than 10% of his total calories for the day,” says Purina Senior Nutritionist, Jan Dempsey. You don’t want your pooch to pack on the pounds or to suffer from digestive problems.
Strawberries have some characteristics and nutrients that may benefit your dog. Strawberries have:
- High water content
- Vitamin C
- A teeth-whitening enzyme
Strawberries are good for humans and pets. They are super tasty and a great source of vitamin C, folate, potassium, and manganese, which play important roles in the body like supporting the immune system, allowing muscles to function normally, and fighting cellular damage. Strawberries are powerful antioxidants and may help reduce inflammation and may decrease your pet’s chances of getting cancer. Go berries!
