Because generous hearts and hands strengthen communities, we continue in our pursuit to uplift where hunger and poverty plague those in need. Through our Soft Landings initiatives, we endeavour to make a difference and inspire others to follow suit. In this article, we take a moment to highlight and celebrate how the joint efforts and support of our good-hearted staff members and partners in welfare and charity helped feed the hungry and stretch out a helping hand to offer support and hope.
We have indeed broken a new food packing record! In just 4 days, our team of dedicated employees have managed to produce 21,129 food packs which provide 126,774 meals for local communities in need. The meals were welcomed with open arms and big smiles by churches, soup kitchens, child welfare organisations and other charity groups. The food packs were delivered to:
Apart from this record-breaking food donation, our branch in Springs also managed to produce 1,700 food packs in a week, while the George group assembled an extra 2,340 food packs to help fill hungry tummies. Go team!
In addition, we have also offered support to Life Community Services, helping to feed over 1,500 children. We supplied food resources such as tinned food, sandwich spreads, eggs and soya food packs to supplement and support this amazing organisation’s efforts.
Food packing and meal donations for communities in need are not where the generosity of our employees ends. The Oakhurst Retail team recently won an Insurance Institute of the Western Cape virtual quiz night. This winning team wanted to share the love and opted to donate their voucher prize to George Child and Family Welfare to redeem for items needed for their new foster home.
To all our employees who continue to lend a helping hand, we thank you for staying true to one of our key values, which is to care 😊 #WeReallyCare
And to the volunteers and support staff of all charity and welfare organisations, who dedicate their lives to uplift our communities, we salute you and thank you for standing tall as beacons of hope, lighting the way for those who need it most in these trying times.
