As the nights get colder, it’s easy for us to curl up under a blanket in our warm homes and switch off from the outside world. But, what about those who don’t have a home to go to this winter? That’s why we created the Polar Bear Plunge.

The Polar Bear Plunge is dotsure.co.za’s annual blanket drive for those brrr-ave enough to take the challenge! Participants ‒ or “plungers” ‒ donate blankets to get wild and plunge into the icy winter waters of Victoria Bay to experience a taste of what those less fortunate in our community face daily during the cold winter months. It’s the coolest event in Eden ‒ literally ‒ and it’s all for an amazing cause! All blankets collected are donated to shelter pets and people in need.

Last year we collected and donated 732 blankets to the needy via organisations like the AACL, SPCA, Rotary George, Thanda Jesu and more. This year our aim is to raise over 1,000 blankets! Let’s see if we can break the record, together!

Join the 4th annual Polar Bear Challenge!

Take the plunge with us and hundreds of warm-hearted thrill-seekers at the 4th annual Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, 27 July 2019 at Victoria Bay. Festivities kick-off at 10am and the entry fee is a blanket. You can pledge to take the plunge as an individual or as a business (and win R20,000 for your chosen charity*) here.

Can’t attend but still want to donate a blanket?

You can still make a difference in the life of a shelter pet or person in need this winter. Gather as many blankets as you can and either:

  1. leave them with us at 117A York Street, George; or
  2. email [email protected] to collect and deliver them to us for FREE; or
  3. make a monetary donation here. All funds will be used to buy more blankets.

Help us gather 1,000 blankets this year!
